Samsung UN55C6300 55-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV (Black) Review

After reading some of the reviews talking about jittery output from a 1080p source, I was a little leery buying this TV but I am glad I did. It did take almost 2 weeks to deliver through Amazon though and the tracking provided via CEVA was a little misleading. That was the only part of the whole experience that could have used improvement. I also purchased the Peerless SF670 low profile mount through Amazon. The mount was already installed when the TV arrived so I mounted the brackets and the rear plate covering the stand hole on the back and the new TV was on the wall and hooked up in 10 minutes with one other person helping. Although this TV is light enough for one to pick up, it is bulky and it would have been dangerous putting it up alone.

The picture on this television is as advertised: great color, detail and refresh. There is a setting for Auto Motion Plus that comes activated in Standard mode from the factory. This is probably what caused other people so much trouble with the jittery performance. This mode for me also caused studdering and jittery playback for 1080p content. Setting this mode to Clear or turning it off alltogether clears up the problem. The Auto Motion Plus feature is ONLY a gimmick and although it looks kind of neat in a trippy way, I could not imagine watching ANYTHING that way for any period of time, even if it didn’t studder. Some have talked about getting a firmware update to fix the jittering but I didn’t even bother because I would rather watch movies the way they were intended to be be displayed, not in some surreal bizzare way.

I am pushing 1080p from 2 sources… an XBMC media server running on an Aspire Revo with HDMI output and an HDMI HD cable reciever, all switched through an HDMI matrix switch with over 30 feet of HDMI cables. The audio is tapped from a TOSLink fiber connector on the matrix switch and fed into an Onkyo DTS reciever. Through all of this wiring, the picture has always been full 1080p and there is no delay in audio vs. video, even with the audio tapped upstream from the video. In my setup, I only run two cables to each TV, one HDMI and a return optical in case the audio ever was out of sync with the video – like I said though, no problems there so not really needed if you are using a HDMI switch with digital out.

All in all, this TV was a very good value for my setup and I couldn’t be happier with the purchase. I have only had it a week though so have no comment about reliability.

Sharp AQUOS LC46LE700UN 46-Inch 1080p 120 Hz LED HDTV Review

Like D. Bortranger’s earlier review I also hooked up a watt meter ( UPM model EM100 ) and received roughly the same
results. Power saving off – 98 watts but the picture highlights were overly bright to me.

Standard power saving used around 80 watts, picture was dimmed slightly bringing down the highlights to a proper level
by my eye.

Advanced power saving (OPC) on standard settings ( min range -16 max range +8 functional setting) was 50 watts,
but the picture was too dark, so I increased the min range ( min range -8 max range +8 functional setting) which
brought the brightness up to an acceptable level for a dark room and the power usage up to only 60 watts! )

Now I just toggle between Standard and Advanced Power Saving depending on the room brightness.

I bought this Sharp model over their latest version (LC46LE810UN) because the new model is edge lit rather than a back lit LED array, and it has fewer component or S-video inputs than the LE700UN, plus of course the lower price since the
LE700UN is an outgoing model.

“Experts” can argue whether this or that brand / model has a superior picture because of “X” feature, I’m ecstatic
with this model because I have a big screen TV with a great picture that runs on less power than a typical light bulb,
and it’s made by Sharp, whom I’ve had a great track record with ( both of my previous Sharp 27 inch TV’s lasted more than
10 years without a single problem ). In my opinion, if anybody can build a bulletproof TV that will last, Sharp can.

I bought this for my home office and had it sitting about 2.5 feet away. I was not able to get a satisfactory picture. Even with Sharpness as 0 it looked jagged and grainy when watching HD broadcast TV. Now I reorganized my office and have the TV on a shelf about 3.5-4 feet away from my face and I’m feeling much better about the PQ. I guess any picture may look grainy if you are too close to it.

Other than that this unit has all the different configuration settings and enough inputs for a normal user. I also use it as monitor for my linux server and it works well for that too.

I see that people complain about the sound quality and while it is true that my Boston Acoustic / Harman Kardon / SVS home theater set-up sounds a lot better I’m not sure what kind of expectations one should have on a TV this size and price. I watch mainly sport and news on it and I think the sound it perfectly ok, no complaints at all.

I’m happy with the purchase.

I waited about 10 months to post my opinion of this TV. Like some other folks here, I bought it at 6th Avenue Electronics. I went into the store with cash for a similar, but much more expensive Sony unit. The sales person told me to first look at some Pannasonic plasma they had on sale, which I didn’t think looked great, and then he showed me this TV. It was sitting in a row of Samsung and Sony TVs, and out of the 10 or so in the row, this TV clearly looked the best. The color looked very rich and vibrant. Then he told me the price, which was 700 bucks cheaper than the Sony I was going to buy.

I refuse to buy anything this big without reading reviews, so I went home and did some research. Worst things I saw were some cases of faulty audio, and a lack of internet hookup. I decided to go with it….I have a 27 inch monitor for my pc…I really didn’t need internet hookup on my TV. Even better, Amazon had it on sale, and when I went back to 6th Avenue, they matched the price! I felt like a winner at this point…. 900 bucks cheaper than the Sony, and it honestly looked better than the Sony in the store.

10 months later, this TV is incredible. I have both the PS3 and 360, both hooked up via hdmi ports, and they look stunning. I watched Saving Private Ryan on it last weekend, and was just amazed. And this is 10 months into owning it!!!!! High Def TV looks amazing, and even regular cable looks alright also. And, I have no sound issues at all.

This TV is one of the best budget purchases I have ever made in my life. I may buy another for my basement! Hook this TV up to your Cable, DVD player, computer, VCR, even USB. I can plug every device I own that has video output into this. The included cables are really short, like 6″, but the TV is great, so I can buy my own cables. Had most of them anyway.

This TV is also very thin and lightweight. We can put it on our kitchen table, hook it up to the computer and everyone can skype, play games together, whatever. IT works also with cable. I could hang it on the wall or just use the stand it comes with.

The cabling diagrams were very useful and the user’s manual was well-written and helpful. THe packaging was quite efficient – small but protective. Our TV arrived in good condition.

Toshiba’s Net TV provides on-demand entertainment from such Internet sources as VUDU (with over 3,000 1080p HD movies) and Pandora for streaming of personalized music channels.
