LG 47LH90 47-Inch 1080p 240Hz LED Backlit LCD HDTV, Glossy Black/Infused Blue Review

I have only owned the TV for one month. I have tried to really run it through its paces in that time. Most other TV’s I saw and thought of purchasing had at least one issue or another that kept me from buying them. FOR YOUR SAKE DO YOUR RESEARCH!!

PICTURE QUALITY – Fantastic. The colors are vivid and the blacks are deep.
ABILITY TO HANDLE FAST ACTION SCENES – Took some time but I have the settings adjusted to handle any movie, TV show or video game I throw at it. Before numerous adjustments SOME scenes such as heavy smoke, fire, fog, explosions etc. caused the screen to become blocky.
SOUND – No issues. The stock speakers are more than adequate.
STAND – Looks good. Is stable. Easy to attach.
EASE OF USE – This is my first HDTV and I found the menu easy to use and loaded with options. You can really fine tune the TV here.
LOOKS – Not a big deal in my book but this TV looks great.
REMOTE – Not a big deal again. Its a standard remote. No issues.
COST – More expensive than other TV’s however, it’s tried and tested and does not have any outstanding issues that other TV’s on the market have. Only time will tell if the extra couple hundred was worth it.
ISSUES – Most I could fix by adjusting the picture quality. It may be my lack of knowledge but the TruMotion240hz seems useless. When activated it makes the TV unwatchable. When TruMotion is off the TV really is fantastic.

SUMMARY – Very happy with the TV. I did my research and feel that online reviews and numerous visits to the store to check out TV’s helped me pick this one. I would buy this again. You can buy Cheap LG 47LH90 47-Inch 1080p 240Hz LED Backlit LCD HDTV, Glossy Black/Infused Blue Online!

LG 55LH90 55-Inch 1080p 240Hz LED Backlit LCD HDTV, Glossy Black/Infused Blue Review

Very few complaints about this tv. Had it for about a month now and I love it. One thing I thought might be a little better is the THX mode, it only makes the picture look dark and blurry. It’s only to be used with movies. Not really for video games or anything else. The energy saving mode only works with a few settings, I mostly leave it on 75% or 100 because otherwise it looks like the center is brighter than the edges such as when white text is on a black screen. The outter text is dimmer while the center is bright.

The 240Hz motion blur is excellent, just adjust the settings to make it maximum instead of minimum. The sound is great, compared to my dad’s 55inch Samsung, this has alot more depth, surround and bass. I was expecting to be blown away by the 2M:1 contrast ratio. But again compared to my dads 100,000:1 Samsung, there isnt THAT much of a difference. A little yes.

The remote isn’t very ideal, it gets fingerprinted and greasy VERY easily and is pretty much impossible to get off. The moment I looked at it brand new I thought ‘wow, pretty remote’. 2mins later I was saying ‘wow, ugly remote’. I love the LED lighting, the view is great from any angle in my house. Theres not too much of a glare from sunlight, only a hot spot but the screen doesnt reflect everything like some other LCDs or LEDs. On my dads samsung I can see everything being reflected and its really annoying. I love the look of the tv, so cant complain there. I was a little dissapointed when I saw there was no internet mode build into the TV as with samsung. I tried to connect an ethernet cord and found none. I just use my PS3 to browse the web. Thought it could have included it though. The HDMI voice problem doesnt exist on my television.

Not a perfect tv, but a very good one and will impress your family and friends. I hope this lasts me for many years to come. You can buy Cheap LG 55LH90 55-Inch 1080p 240Hz LED Backlit LCD HDTV, Glossy Black/Infused Blue Online!

LG 42LH90 42-Inch 1080p 240Hz LED Backlit LCD HDTV, Glossy Black/Infused Blue Review

I have been looking around for a 1080p TV for a long time to upgrade my room and I finally came to buy this TV and I would never look back. I wanted a TV good for gaming, has great picture clarity, and of course good HD playback whether it be Blu-Ray or HD channels on cable. This TV has lived up to all of my expectations that I had for it except for one problem. The 240Hz “TruMotion” even when on low has some distorting effect on moving background images. Usually nothing that takes a lot away from the overall picture and nothing that lasts more than a couple seconds but I always seem to find those things. I am convinced it is the 240Hz considering I have watched the same movies on 120Hz 1080p LED TV and there was only very slight distortions. When playing a Blu-Ray on 1080p, it is less noticeable than if you where watching HBO HD or some other Cable TV HD channel.

Picture clarity and brightness are phenomenal! We have the Samsung 55″ LED set downstairs and when I compared it almost looked like this LG was brighter and was more clear when playing a Blu-Ray disc, or playing a PS3 game. Sound quality is very good of built in speakers. Usually I can’t let it go over 40 otherwise it is too loud when comparing it to the Samsung, sometimes we need to put the volume all the way up to 85-90.

Overall I am very happy with this TV for the price that I paid for it, I just bought a new Blu Ray player to replace my Samsung P1500, I will be hooking up a Panasonic DMP-DB85K later this week to see if it will make any difference in Blu-Ray clarity. So far the best movie that I have watched on this TV picture-wise is District 9… watched that yesterday and WOW it was an amazingly clear, crisp and bright picture.

If you are looking for a closer to budget priced 1080p LED TV this would be the TV you should consider.

EDIT:

2 days ago I hooked up my Panasonic DMP-DB85K Blu Ray player and I will say there is a a slight difference over my older Samsung model. I went through the settings on the DVD player and turned on the 24p setting (plays the dvd at 24 frames per second which is what movies are recorded in) and there was a good difference in playback.

I also played around with some settings in the picture menu, about the distortion about black edges/images… I turned the “Black Level” setting to High and I keep TruMotion 240hz to Low and I notice that there is less distortion on Blu Ray play back. I will continue to play around with some settings and see if there can be any more changes I can make.
