The picture quality is absolutely fantastic. The comments I’ve gotten while watching a 1080p source are that it looks so real that it looks fake. That’s how clear and sharp the picture is. The viewing angle is also very good, which was a pleasant surprise based on past experience with LCD TVs. Setup was very easy, taking only minutes, and it connected to my Wi-Fi router right away. Compared to other products with the same features, it’s an excellent value.

However, the specs are misleading. One of the things that really attracted me to this TV was the number of HDMI inputs and the digital audio output. Since I have an older receiver that doesn’t switch HDMI, I thought I would use the TV as a switch and feed the digital audio out (optical) into my receiver. I researched the specs and contacted Vizio’s tech support, and it appeared as if I was good to go. That proved not to be the case! After trying all the settings, all I could get was mono out from the TV’s digital audio output. I contacted tech support, and the person I spoke with walked me through all the steps I had already performed. After all that, I still was only getting mono out. That’s when he informed me that the feature doesn’t work and it’s somewhat misleading that the TV will output Dolby Digital, and all you can actually get is mono (PCM) out. He also told me that they’ve received a number of complaints about it, and there would “probably” be a firmware upgrade to fix it. I was very frustrated that he didn’t just tell me that in the first place instead of walking me through all the setup steps I had already performed, and that Vizio advertises that ability to output Dolby Digital via the digital audio output. I’m hoping they do issue the patch and will update my review if they do.

I’m also a bit dissapointed in the apps. While it’s cool having them, for the most part they are all Yahoo! oriented or pay content. I would love to see a Hulu widget.
